As a result of a lifetime of musical influence, her idiomatic style has developed into what it is today: a bit eclectic with the capacity to sing a cappella, effortlessly. Her mother was the director of the children’s choir at church, which gave her, her first audience. She also enjoyed singing in the High School Choir and the Gospel Choir while at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. At the age of 10, she began singing in a Trio at church, which consisted of her sister and her cousin. During the group’s time together they had the opportunity to sing at a local churches in Huntington, West Virginia and surrounding areas. Ilene also had the opportunity to sing the lead of “Oh Happy Day” during the West Virginia Chapter meeting of the Edwin Hawkins Music & Arts Seminar Concert. In 2014 she released her debut album entitled “Come Lord.” She has shared the stage with the likes of Elder Tommy Jones Jr., Jasmine Sculark, Lemmie Battles, Bishop John Morris, Edwin and Walter Hawkins, and many others.
